The Black Napkin
The other night I went out with a friend of mine for dinner. On the way my friend asked if I knew what a black napkin was. I said, “A napkin that was black”? He thought it was odd his date asked for a black napkin at a fine restaurant with white linens because she was wearing black. I thought it made sense to me as many times I have had the white lint from the linens covering my black clothes.
We went inside the restaurant and were seated, forgetting about the black napkin conversation. We were chatting for several minutes and finally got around to ordering from the menu. As I handed the menu to the waiter, underneath the menu sat a black napkin! How hilarious! Well, I was wearing black and my friend was not – he had a white napkin at his place. Go figure!
